President Obama will skip Memorial Day services at Arlington National Cemetery

What kind of Commander in Chief would do that in time of war? BTW...he will return in time to host a tribute to Paul McCartney ...... Choosing a Rock Star for tribute over our fallen warriors? Shameful IMO.

President Obama’s Memorial Day Vacation

This weekend, President Obama will skip Memorial Day services at Arlington National Cemetery, and instead he will take his family to Chicago for rest and relaxation. The gesture has rankled many on the right and caused the left to swing into full ‘defend Obama’ mode. However, the fact remains that during a time of war, it is extraordinary that the Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces would choose not to be at Arlington on this solemn occasion.

First, it must be said that the president is not skipping out on his official duties entirely. At the start of the weekend, the president will travel to Louisiana to survey the response to oil spill; only his second trip to the region since the disaster over a month ago. And on Monday, the president will deliver remarks at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. In between these duties he will spend a “casual weekend with friends” and then fly home in time to make a White House tribute to Paul McCartney on Wednesday evening.

That's nice! I'll be in Chicago watching the Cubs and Cardinals and sitting in the presidential traffic jams.

If I were a Democrat I'd be extremely embarassed by this guy's arrogance. He is single handedly destroying the party and he does not care. It is his way at his pace, on his command, in his style and no other choice. And don't question his authority or his ability. He will go to Arlington or not if he decides so and not based upon tradition. The American people, the American way of life, American tradition and values all need "change".

Earlier I read that he has appointed two devout Muslims to high level Homeland Security posts. Doesn't that make us all feel safer?

Twice on Friday I saw Marine One with four Chinooks escorting passing overhead in Chicago. Obama was there to play basketball in one of the lab buildings at the University of Chicago and to go to a private barbeque. One has to wonder what it cost to fly them to Chicago on Air Force One (plus all of the support staff) and then helicopter all over from Hyde Park with all of the security detail. He should have kept his rear end back in Washington and done his memorial duties.

You could speed on the interstate highways all you wanted because all of the available Illinois Highway Patrol were sitting in Chicago on standby security detail.
