NYC's Governmental leadership must be beyond sanity to approve this and under what would normally be rational Federal leadership there should normally be heavy intervention.

Pete, I'm glad you posted this because I saw it, was going to comment on it but was too angry. I thought to myself that there is no way New York will allow the building of a Muslim mosque on this sacred ground. I looks like I was wrong. I think it is time for the common man to step up and say "no way". I had already decided that when I return to New York I will not go visit the BS PC memorial to world peace or go any where near there again. The forces of the AntiChrist are on the move.


I know the National President for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and I'm going to drop him a note and ask if his brotherhood will be part of the construction crew building this blasphemy, this in your face insult to America. And I'll ask if he will talk to the other construction trades and get all of the trades to boycott the project.

I think this is wrong. I doubt their stated intentions and find it offensive. Not much, but anything else I feel would be ugly if expressed. Those in positions of power, in this country, need to get their heads out of the sand and their hearts in the right place.

***** Those unfamiliar with the Political leanings of possibly a Majority of those living nearby should be aware that they are mostly quite Liberal Democrat who wallow in diversity and have developed amnesia since 2001. The old building at 114 Liberty Street( right across from the WTC) was bought by some wealthy Counter Culture type about 4 years ago and he converted it into an anti GWB shrine.

***** Supposedly the Female Press Spokesperson for this Islamic group actually said that opening this facility would help non Muslims "integrate" - presumably into Islam. It was a 27 to 1 approval by the Soho/Tribeca area Community board (naturally made up of hard Core White Liberals) to go ahead with this project. 8 abstentions however.

The origins of such monies are unexplained; neither are the countries or entity advancing such huge donations. Most US mosques, including many in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx are funded directly or indirectly by Saudi Arabia the country to which 15 of the 19 hijackers who bombed the World TradeCenter belonged. The UAE, Qatar and Iran are other major sponsors across the USA.

****** Despite a clear avoidance by most media of this subject - enough public outrage IS growing to possibly stall this project forever. NYC Govt. as of now has sided with those wanting this project, but things just might change. Bloomberg isn't up for Reelection until 2013 (if the currebt Charter actually allows it ??) and he's got enough money to make himself immune to any real vehemence forever if necessary.

I think I read that a move is being made to have the site declared a historical landmark, which would preclude the building of anything there.

******* The Landmark attempt might work for awhile, but that particular site is not justified for such a distinction. It's an old building - over 100 years(??) but other than that it's not in the category of other structures. The actual WTC site is another matter, but in regards to it some Commercial interests are overwhelming Historical significance.

I can't see why Bloomberg is for this,they will not be paying taxes will they?

****** Yesterday and not unexpectedly the NYC Landmarks Commision refused to stop the building of the Islamic Center by declaring the old Burlinton coat building a Landmark. In actuality it was a pointless move by the growing opponants of this proposal.

***** Mark Levin last night pointed out that the real hope of stopping this provocation is for the Building Trades Unions to refuse to work such a site and in the NY area they carry a lot of weight,

****** Eventually outsiders would be brought in to do both the demolition and the new structure going up , but such standoffs in the past such as the Marriott Marquis in Times Sq. have gone on for years and without qualified workers getting anything going is a tough proposition.

Right now the construction trades are talking tough stating that they will not build on this site. But one phone call from the White House and they will cave and blame it on Bloomberg, the city commission or the threat of legal actions. The unions are too heavily invested in the "chosen one and his dominions". And the White House will do whatever to appease the Muslims.

This is another example of thwarting the will of the American people as we were discussing in the gay marriage ban in another thread. They don't care what we think. They will do anything to advance their goals of converting this country to a total socialist totalitarian state.

It is not for my sake that I fear the future. I can take care of myself and am willing to pay whatever price for my decisions. It is the future of my three children and their children that I am concerned.
I am getting out of the construction business because all of my customers today are tax based and I can not in good faith except money from these organizations knowing that it is my children that will pay the bill. This will cost me big bucks. I am also not going to participate in the Social Security debacle. Many of our Founding Fathers were rich but died broke because of their involvement. I served with men who gave their lives so what's a couple of bucks.
