California Cushion Empty California Cushion

****** The above description is what will probably Save both Jerry Brown & Barbara Boxer this November. In short the now very large reliably Democratic Hispanic Vote. Without it in this lousy economy and with the abrasive Boxer and the quirky Brown this Election cycle would as of now be easy to call.

***** A Sea Change in demograhics has altered everything in 30+ years. Also not everyone who votes is a Valid Citizen

The recent Set up by one Gloria Allred concerning a former employee of Whitman is of course too obvious for most , BUT with the emotional component of a new simplistic electorate it just might be enough. Allred and friends are not interested in persuading 200 out of a truly undecided 1,000 but possibly on 20 - like 2%. That just might do it, and much of the even long existing Hispanic community is highly suspicous of almost any Republican because of Arizona, Minutemen, Pete Wilson , Tancredo etc. It simply won't take much - and Brown is possibly getting desperate.

Things are looking better here in Colorado. Except for the Governor's race, the Democrat Hickenlooper has a clear lead because the Republican put up a very bad candidate, and Tancredo jumped in as a third-party nominee.

***** It's possible also that in Kentucky - Rand Paul might blow what should have been an easy Win for the GOP because of his inexperiance and and quirkiness. If so it could mean GOP control of the Senate will not happen.

I think he still will win. Here in Colorado Bennett is almost certainly going to get evicted by a relatively unknown.

In the Illinois state government the D's are out and the R's will be in. But will that mean change? Our state is broke and the only way out will be a major fight with the state employee's and teachers' unions.
On the Federal side Mark Kirk-R will be our next senator and will we have a number of new Republican congressmen. But will that mean change?
What is happening in California (and many other places) is a bigger threat to our security than anything that Iran or the Taliban could cook up. The have not's are out to take over the world. Is total anarchy on the horizon? Cool

California in 2012 should have 57 Electoral Votes. That means adding Vermont & D.C. that Barry has a start of 67 if you add Hawaii. Eventually Arizona, Nevada and Oregon, and Colorado might be outside of any GOP hope of success. The numbers continue to pile up against all We have essentially known.

Too pessimistic, Peter. The Dems are doing everything they can to ensure a Republican victory. If they shed as much support in the next two years as they have in the last two, it will be a different story.

The problem in California with the Hispanic community is not a Republican or Democrat thing it is a total disconnect with American society. They are Mexican and California is Mexican territory to be reclaimed in many of their minds. They are not there to pick the fruit and vegetables, they are there to pick the wealth. The money is everywhere unlike Mexico. You can work for it, you can steal it ,you can make big money preying off of other Hispanics. Picking the welfare system is easier than picking fruit. Politicos from both sides of the aisle are concerned because there are other elements in the back ground. They are separatists and some are out right communists. I met the brother of a friend of mine who has worked in the govenour's office through several adminsrations and he told me of the ongoing conversations over who is in control of these illegals. Cool

I see two problems with "illegal immigration" and we have a serious situation with both of them. First item is security. a) We have no idea who is coming into the country and what is their intent? Are they criminals looking for richer hunting grounds? Are they enemies out to harm us? b) It is no small act, it's an invasion. Ask Rome what happens when hordes of have not's show up and push their way into your culture and country. Ask the native Americans. There are presently enough Hispanics in various parts of the country to declare their independence and to seize property. The second point is our insistance on having socialist welfare; ie, public education, medicaid, food stamps, public housing and on and on. The masses will break us and they are.
You are most certainly correct when you say you can not mass deport them. Take away the socialism, take away the jobs, seriously secure borders and points of entry then prepare to protect yourself and that which is yours. Cool

****** Border Security comes First and BTW - after November 2nd John McCain will forget about the Fence even though the one he recomends and was in his Commercials would be woefully insufficient.

***** I'm ashamed to say it but what We need is like the Korean Cease fire line set up or the old border between Albania & Greece or the East German border. Sorry, but it's come to that.

***** Actually it's rather interesting as of now. The reverse of what I thought would develop is proceeding- that is Fiorina probably has a better chance of winning than Whitman does BECAUSE the nonsense over the Illegal Alien Housekeeper has resonated with some Hispanics AND Boxer despite being an incumbant Democrat is not too Amienable to Latino's and Vice versa.

It is the Hispanic Vote that will decide this.

I'll be up all night Tuesday. And I will be praying that California does the right thing. I will also be watching Nevada and
Washington closely, as well as my own state of Colorado. I hope to be smiling, not crying Wednesday morning.

I may have told this story before but:

I went into the Illinois DMV station to get my license renewed. The three individuals in front of me were rejected because the names on the utility bills that they were using for id were already registered to someone else. But the clerk says " You can't have a driver's license but you can register to vote". affraid

Here is another mind blower;

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/10/26/court-strikes-ariz-law-requiring-voters-prove-citizens/

I'm beginning to think that I have been secretly kidnapped by aliens and taken to a strange planet occupied by dumb asses. Cool

I was just having a discussion about this yesterday with a left leaning family member. I brought up the point that you have to at least take a test to get a driver's license, but no test is required to register to vote. I think every voter should have to prove citizenship. But right now, those dumb asses on this planet are running the show.

******* Some think that possibly 100,000 non Citizens Vote in Californis(??) I say it's less than that , but in a tight Statewide race that IS the difference.

All Vote Democratic.

If it can be proved that a significant number of unqualified voters voted in the election, then a lawsuit could be filed to invalidate the election and block certification of the results.

I just had lunch with my son and he told me an interesting story. They took my grand daughter, age 9, to get her ASA (traveling softball leagues) id card. My daughter in law took her birth certificate, SS card and school id not knowing for sure what they would need. What they wanted was a piece of mail with her name on it! They did not want her birth certificate. They finally agreed to accept the SS card. This is a national organization who sponsor softball tournaments all over the country and you are required to have an id card to participate. Because softball is very big in California, Arizona and Texas they had to change the rules to accomadate the illegals! affraid

I am definitely on the wrong planet! Cool

I'm "putting my money where my mouth is". All of my employees are free to go vote, including the service personel and electricians, and I will pay for their time. Some of them will need to stagger when they go so that the place isn't vacant. It looks like there will be a very big turn out.

Let's get it on! Cool

Saint, the salary people can go and just loose personal time but the hourly workers loose wages. I will pay them both. Interesting, my union employees are all big Schilling (R) supporters while the union supports Hare (D). Cool
