*********** May Day 1960 - U2 Finally brought down by the Soviets after over 4 years of unsuccessful frustrating attempts. Francis Gary Powers on a delayed flight from Pakistan to Norway bails out over Sverdlosk (now Ekatrinburg) and is captured thus allowing Nikita Khruschev the excuse to reignite the Cold War after a brief 7 month thaw.

Both sides wasted a lot of time and money on the fact that we all knew what we were doing and still denied it to the bitter end. Stupid then stupid now.
