Loss of the Society's Server
We know that the server crashed. We know that the main web site and the message board are not available. But I'm wondering just how extensive the loss is. Did they have all of the membership files on that server? What about the reunion registrations? Did they do their bookkeeping on that server? If so, they sure have a problem. I can't believe they did not have backups.
Re: Loss of the Society's Server
I'm with you Floyd. I can't believe that they don't have a back-up server, or the data stored at another secure off site location....

Re: Loss of the Society's Server
Hey, gang, I'm finally here at the temporary watering hole.
A small correction. The Society's main site is in perfect working order, including the membership database and online reunion registration. The message board and the photo gallery were both hosted on the server that crash, but the main site is on a separate server which is fine. I just checked that, right before I made this post, to be sure. If anyone has trouble accessing the main site, let me know and I'll see what I can find out.
Now I've got to find the spot where I can select an avatar. Probably show up after I actually make this first post but I haven't found it yet.
Chris

It's in your profile.
Thanks for the update. I can't find the society's web site. http://www.soc1id.org does not work for me.
Re: Loss of the Society's Server
I don't think it was changed because I used the same old link I've had set in my favorites for several years. Anyway, I'm glad you got into it now, Floyd.
Yep, I did some prospecting, after I made my first post, whipped up an avatar, and found the right spot in my profile.....now I'm purrty, agin.
I noticed Jake said he couldn't delete his avatar. Can that be changed by clicking on the "reset" button or is that disabled?

I'm going to start a new thread on forum problems. Remember, I'm new at the "forum administrator" business.

Gotcha, Jake, I didn't realize that you had already changed. Crowe wouldn't look nearly as good on your arm anyway.

Re: Loss of the Society's Server
Thanks for putting together this temporary website. I sent invites to the BRO members in my address book. I see John Parmenter hasn't joined yet. I will send him an e-mail. The same with Larry Thompson.
"Pleasant Washoe Zepher Breeze" (60mph+) on Wednesday night flattend my battered wooden fence. It also took out my neighbors fence. I have been digging post holes; a good thing I have a TA-1 entrencing tool, I still remember how to use it.....

Re: Loss of the Society's Server
I thought that tool was just for covering your "Pelosi" discussed in another thread.
Re: Loss of the Society's Server
The ET is a forgiving and mulit-purpose tool. Just wipe the Pelosi off when your done with your hygiene chores and it can be an implement of destruction, construction, or your can very neatly remove someone's head with it, given sufficient stroke length. Everyone should have one around the house and in each each vehicle. Even good for picking up dog Pelosi in the yard. Order now and get a free bag of latrine liners with your order!
Buck tirty tree when you mention this ad at Dirty Dick's Slimy Surplus and Salvage. If it's covered in Pelosi, we've got it!
